Pigeons
and Birds, the damage they cause to buildings
Accumulated
deposits of pigeon droppings can cause rapid
stone decay, especially susceptible are those
buildings constructed from limestone. The
pigeon droppings provide a concentrated source
of acid which causes slow erosion of the
surface and softening of of fine stonework

Photographs
of the various types of bird proofing systems
that we install can be viewed in our main
site www.controlpest.co.uk under the bird
proofing and pigeon proofing section. To
completely bird proof a building, bird netting
is now one of the most popular methods, which
if fitted correctly will guarantee to proof
the building and keep birds and pigeons away.
Bird netting is manufactured in a number
of sizes to proof against sparrows, starlings,
pigeons and seagulls.
We
construct bird netting cages to cover and
protect rooftop plant and equipment where
pigeons and seagulls can cause serious problems.
We install pigeon netting for pigeon proofing
cooling equipment in basement car parks where
pigeons can find cover and warmth.
Bird
proofing spikes can be used against pigeons
and seagulls where netting would not be suitable
and an even less noticeable bird proofing
system are bird wires that run horizontally
above ledges and windows sills. Bird proofing
spikes are manufactured with plastic bases
and either stainless steel spikes or plastic
spikes, both of which are harmless to both
pigeons and gulls.
Access
to work at height can be from scaffolding
already in position if the client is having
remedial or construction work carried out.
Our bird proofing technicians are PASMA trained
to erect and work from mobile scaffold towers
and IPAF trained to operate hydraulic access
equipment on site which helps to keep our
pigeon proofing prices competitive. |
